WELCOME TO THE 5 AND 2 PROJECT

The picture above is one of my favorites. Taken on a recent mission trip to Peru by a Chimbotano villager on the peak of Cerro de la Paz (“Hill of Peace”).  It’s a self-reminder of why I decided to start The 5 and 2 Project… to capture and communicate stories of people through video, and share those stories far and wide for the benefit of others.

My name is Kevin Young, and I am the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of The 5 and 2 Project… which is my a fancy way of saying, I’m the guy who creates the content and is on the hook for the bills.

I love living in Charlotte, and am very active in the community through the non-profit I co-founded, SPEED FOR NEED, being a leader in the men’s workout group F3 Nation, a Partner at Waypoint. You may see me on the pitch for Charlotte FC matches where I am a media photographer / videographer for The Charlotte Ledger, featured in the Ballantyne Magazine 2021 Summer edition, or seen my content on my Instagram account @the5amd2project

Professionally, I was honored to receive the BOB Award by Charlotte Magazine in 2021 in the ‘Best Videographer’ category. I have also received 6 Telly Awards for my video content work in 2021, beating out the likes of Disney Studios for a Gold Category. I am a published photographer and have been recognized locally as one of Charlotte’s best photographers. In 2021 I was recognized by The Charlotte Ledger as a 40 Over 40 Award recipient. It’s been a fun ride and I’m incredibly lucky.
